    I am 52 and diabetic, asthmatic, and hypertensive and have had arthritic issues for most of my life. I had gastric by-pass surgery in 2001 and had maintained my weight fairly well until last year. After having two significant neck surgeries, I put on 25 pounds mostly as belly fat. I also continued to have neck and shoulder pain.

    When I read The UltraSimple Diet, it made so much sense that I was excited to start the program. At the end of one week, I lost 1 inch off my waist, 1 inch off my hips, 3 inches of belly fat, and dropped 4.5 pounds. My blood sugars have been in the normal range all week. And I have less discomfort in my neck this week.

    I started the UltraSimple Diet after having a migraine that lasted about 20 hours. I was fed up with the state of my health and felt like something had to change. I felt chronically fatigued and had no energy. The desire to exercise was there, but I never seemed to be able to drum up enough energy by the end of the day to make it happen ...

    On the 7 day-program I lost 6 pounds and about an inch off my waist and hips. I feel so much better. My migraines are completely gone, I sleep deeper at night, and I am able to start the day earlier without needing a cup of coffee to get me going. I have more energy throughout the day and finally have the energy to start exercising again. In fact, I have been walking with two friends about 3-4 times a week, and it really is making a difference.

    I also got my husband to join me on the program. We are looking at this as a lifestyle change, not a quick-fix diet and we know it will benefit our health in the future. We still need to lose more weight, but plan to just keep plugging away at it as we eat the way you recommend.

    If you really care about your health, you need to start this program. It is not about weight loss (though this is a side benefit), but about investing in your future health. I work as a critical care nurse and I see patients every day who have conditions that could have been prevented if they only made some lifestyle changes when they were younger. I am determined to make those changes myself, and I want to advocate for others to make that change too.

    I found The UltraSimple Diet at a real opportune time. I had just been diagnosed with celiac disease, and I had to change my diet. I was(and still am) concerned about other food sensitivities as well. I wanted to eliminate as many known allergens from my diet as I could, and then start reintroducing certain foods to see which I was sensitive to. I also gained about 8 pounds over the past 3 years, and I wanted to try to lose the majority of this weight during the diet.

    My weight at the beginning of the preparation week was 126 pounds. Over the course of the program I lost 6 pounds which was very exciting to me. I’m going to stay on the program until I lose 2 more pounds, then I will reintroduce foods in hopes of fining those that do not have negative effects.

    One thing I really liked was the way Dr. Hyman included checklist for each day that listed everything I was supposed to do and the time of day it should be done. This part was very easy to follow and kept me on right track!

    I would definitely recommend this diet. After all, I got pretty great results!
