    I’d been diagnosed with every autoimmune disease there is: multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, TMJ, cluster headaches, and thyroid and adrenal gland issues to name a few. I was in constant pain that went from bad to horrible over the course of a day. Basically, I was at the end of my rope. The only options left for me were potent pain killers and a possible gastric bypass surgery.

    I’d tried literally every diet in the book: Weight Watchers, South Beach, Atkins, cabbage soup diet, Herbal Life shake diet, low-fat diet (less than 15 grams a day), and I’ve probably missed a few others. So when I read UltraMetabolism, my initial thought was, "Yeah just another diet that fails."

    But I was at the point where I would try anything. I didn’t want to have gastric bypass surgery, because I’ve seen people fail with it and I was tired of being on powerful pain killers. I actually didn’t believe it would work until my third day on the program when the cravings went away ...

    I found The UltraSimple Diet at a real opportune time. I had just been diagnosed with celiac disease, and I had to change my diet. I was(and still am) concerned about other food sensitivities as well. I wanted to eliminate as many known allergens from my diet as I could, and then start reintroducing certain foods to see which I was sensitive to. I also gained about 8 pounds over the past 3 years, and I wanted to try to lose the majority of this weight during the diet.

    My weight at the beginning of the preparation week was 126 pounds. Over the course of the program I lost 6 pounds which was very exciting to me. I’m going to stay on the program until I lose 2 more pounds, then I will reintroduce foods in hopes of fining those that do not have negative effects.

    One thing I really liked was the way Dr. Hyman included checklist for each day that listed everything I was supposed to do and the time of day it should be done. This part was very easy to follow and kept me on right track!

    I would definitely recommend this diet. After all, I got pretty great results!

    You need to try read Dr. Hyman's book. Everything he writes is true. Going back to the basics of healthy foods that are not microwaved and packaged for convenience can really help your body.     This book has taught me what I need to know to continue eating right foods to boost my metabolism.

  • During the first week on the diet, my husband and I lost 6.5 pounds and we were resting much better at night.

    My doctor recommended that I research metabolic syndrome which is a problem I am currently battling. I saw Dr. Hyman on PBS and UltraMetabolism seemed to be a great way for me to address my obesity issues and fight diabetes before I become a victim.

    I must admit than when I started the diet I felt very anxious. I was unsure about whether or not I could maintain this diet, and I was extremely skeptical about how I would feel.

    My anxiety rapidly vanished. During the first week on the diet, my husband and I lost 6.5 pounds and we were resting much better at night.

    Dr. Hyman’s suggestions were perfect for us, because we needed to reduce and manage our carbs and sugars. That is really what is toxic for us. Having completed the program now, it is reassuring to know that we can eliminate these foods from our diet yet we don't feel hungry or deprived.

    This diet was an experiment for us, and we feel it’s been successful. My husband and I both feel confident that we have the tools to get our bodies on the right track and get healthy.

    I recommend it as a healthy and promising personal plan.
