I am a big confused about reintroducing foods. The book is very specific on which foods for Phase 1 and Phase 2. However, I wonder if, during Phase 1, we are supposed to reintroduce foods in 3 day increments as is mentioned in Phase 2. If so, seems it will take about three weeks to reintroduce the food groups. Also, are re to continue on the US during the reintroduction (supplements, lemon juice and rice each meal with meat only once a day).

I've done the detox sequence twice, once rather sloppily from Ultrametabolism, but then very, very carefully using the Detox Box. I found that the reintroduction of foods takes longer than you think it will, because some foods along the way probably will trigger a reaction (for me it was eggs and later soy), so when I reintroduced eggs and my body told me "no, thanks," I felt I needed a good three days without symptoms before I could try the next thing on the list and have a clean, clear result. The first time I did the elimination I was less cautious, and as a result I couldn't really trust my results. Was I really reacting to the next thing, or was it left-over upset from the eggs? On the other hand, even though the process seems very long, your diet is getting more varied with every new food group you successfully reintroduce, so you DO feel yourself making progress and having more good things to eat.
For this process to do you any good, though, you have to be scientific about it. So, yeah, it will take some weeks.

Thank you Wolfsuit for sharing your experience. I agree that by introducing more foods you do feel some relief. I was on the USD for over three weeks before beginning to reintroduce - started with Salads and other raw veggies - that was actually fun - even without vinegar dressings. And my family are beef eaters - so that also was introduced. I'm not expecting to find any allergic reactions until I get to gluten and dairy. But thanks for the reminder that I need to be patient.
The good news about reintroducing the foods slowly and staying basically on the same diet is that I have continued to lose weight!! and continue to feel good. Another two pounds this week.
Carrying baggies of almonds, walnuts and pecans with me when out and about has helped keep me on track and not grab for the fast food when I feel a "snack attack" coming on.

Yes, slow and careful reintroduction of foods is highly recommended. What a great attitude you have towards it and interesting about your expectations re: allergic reactions to gluten and dairy. I really see no reason why you need to reintroduce these 2 components of the diet which are still considered by scientists to be "newcomers to the human diet" that we really were not designed to eat anyhow. If you have adapted and are enjoying a nutrient-rich diet without dairy and gluten and feeling great, losing weight, you may just want to keep them out ad infinitum.

I was just wondering what you meant by the comment, "these 2 components (gluten and dairy)...are still considered by scientists to be 'newcomers to the human diet' that we really were not designed to eat anyhow. Haven't people been eating eggs and milk for centuries? I can understand gluten, kind of, but dairy has been around forever. Did I misinterpret what you said? I just wanted to clarify since dairy is going to be my first reintroduction. My doctor's favorite quote is "if our grandmothers don't recognize the food it's probably not good for you" meaning everything was organic, from the farm and fields and animals including cow's milk and chicken's eggs. I, personally, don't necessarily agree with my doctor's feelings because I love the ultrashakes which she, my doctor, said is in that category of not recognizable foods but if you separate the ingredients they mostly all are, it's just a blended version. Anyway I was wondering if you could clarify what you meant by that for my own personal diet needs.
Thanks,
Melissa
