A modified program but one I can live with for a long time

I was one of the few people that didn't feel so good on the ultrasimple diet - I ordered the meals and I think I had allergies to the chocolate in the shake. Instead of feeling good, I felt sluggish.
So, I stepped back and redesigned a program that I can actually live with for a long time - keeping in mind the principles I learned from the Ultrasimple Diet.
I committed to the 10,000 steps a day program. I am up to 7000 steps and increasing it by 1000 steps a week so I will be at 10000 steps by July.
I have totally given up diet coke, which I would be ashamed to say how much I used to drink. I now drink decaf green tea, water, an ounce of juice and a big glass of water, and healthy alternatives.
I stopped all food after dinner - this was the hardest to accomplish and I still struggle with this. I think I gained most of my weight by non-stop after dinner noshing. Feel really proud of this accomplishment.
I stick to ultrashake for breakfast or golean crunch cereal with soy milk. My snacks are similar to breakfast - small and healthy.
For lunch and dinner, I try to do 1/2 cup grain, protein and lots of vegs. I don't eat bread at home, but will have an occasional half sandwich if I am out.
An adaptation - if I go out I eat a real meal. Otherwize, I feel super sorry for myself and go home and pick, pick pick. I do cut way back on portion size and actually eat what my body needs, not what is delivered on the dish.
I eat some foods that weren't on the ultrasimple program, but I eat carefully, paying alot of attention to how I feel and change my food if it bothers me.
Results, I have tons of energy - more than ever before. I feel good and the weight is coming off gradually. This isn't totally the ultrasimple diet, but it is a program I can stick with. And if feeling good is the most important criteria, then everything is going well because I feel really good.

Way to go Jeanette! I too

Way to go Jeanette! I too have been unable to follow these programs for very long as I feel too deprived and then binge. I am still struggling to find a plan that will work for me and not let make me feel deprived so your story gives me heart that I can eventually do it. Thanks!

I'm about to finish my 2nd week of the Ultrasimple diet. I felt awful the first week but now I feel great. I do want to modify and add back the foods I love. The one thing I am having the hardest time with is sugar. Do they really expect us to never have sugar again????? Have you had any sugar products. Please say yes. That way I know I can still eat right with the occasional ice cream or cookie. I don't plan on eating sugar all the time but here and there won't be too bad I hope :-)
I eat sugar.

Though I eat sugar I only allow a very small amount AFTER a meal so as not to spike blood sugar. I believe that even this sugar causes me more joint stiffness. When I eat no sugar at all, I feel the best. Unfortunately, the wonderful snack of seaweed I eat has sugar in the ingredients. I eat it anyway, it is so satisfying.
