My husband and I are on our second week of the Ultra Metabolism diet. We are both feeling so much better; less fatigue, more alert, less tired. We both lost 5 lbs the first week but so far nothing in the 5days into the second week. We are following the plan but a little bored with the recipes. have any of you experienced this in your second week?

I'm so tired of all the diets and I really want this to work.

I am just completing week 5 and have lost a total of 7 lbs.  I too am feeling much better and even though I haven't lost what I would like to lose, I notice a difference in how my clothes feel.  I'm feeling better about what I eat, what I am putting into my body.  My schedule has been a little off (I've been substitute teaching high school.) so I haven't been exercising like I would like to.  Like many other things, I feel I've hit a plateau.  I know I will get over that when I can regulate my schedule a little better.

As for the receipes.  I didn't strictly follow what was given to me in the book.  I took what I read about and adjusted some of our family meals based on what I could and what I shouldn't eat.  We have been eating a bit more fish as a result and my family doesn't mind. I have two teenage daughters who have really enjoyed the tilapia dinners we've had recently.

Keep at it and don't be hesitant to try adjusting some of your family favorites.  Look for ways to replace something that you know isn't good for you with something similar or that can be used as a replacement.

Celebrate 7lbs that is right on track with the UM, which is 1 to 1 1/2 per week. When I was going through all my gallbladder problems and found out I also have a fatty liver, I learned that rapid weight loss and yo-yo dieting are a couple of the main causes of these diseases. So, slow steady weight loss is the best, and easier to keep off, because you are making real changes that become part of a lifestyle. If you keep losing at this rate in 52 weeks you'll be 72.8lbs lighter. Looks better that way doesn't it?

Hi Hopeful -- have you had a look at the Ultrametabolism Cookbook?  I just picked it up to help me get/stay motivated.  Although it looks as though the breakfast recipes are mostly the same as those in the UM book, it seems to have a big variety of recipes that sound great.  Just a thought.

As a side note, I was strictly following the program for 2-3 weeks, but then reverted back to my old eating habits.  Getting back on the horse is always hard, and I have to go through the "very tough first few days" again.  I'm going to try to keep this in mind when I feel like giving into temptation again!

Congratulations on your successes!
