Starting the UltraMetabolism challenge after doing the UltraSimple diet

Hello all,

I did the UltraSimple diet in February (during 3 weeks) and am now in the re-introduction phase, week 3 (food logging). Having now read ¾ of the Ultrametabolism book, I entered the UM challenge because, though I did lose 20 lbs during the diet, and it keeps going down because I remain careful, I still have a way to go to get to my ideal weight. I started the diet at 240 lbs, and want to get to 200 which would be great (note that I am heavily built to begin with).

At the start of the diet, my toxicity level was over 100. Now it is at 68. During the third week of the diet, nagging pain that I already had in my right knee turned into full-fledged tendinitis. I suspect that is because, the day before the knee flare, I had "cheated" by eating pieces of chicken sandwiches at a reception, with mayonnaise and all...

Also, last evening, I took the risk of eating at a self-serve vegetarian restaurant and, odd as it would seem to someone not knowing about UltraMetabolism, half of the food there is stuff I can't eat any more (at least, not until it is successfully re-introduced)! Well, I know there were a few bits of tomato in the tofu dish, and that the vegetables I took had been cooked along with red and green peppers, and there may have been vinigar in the carrot salad I took. Well, I paid the price for my "risk"... having had to get up out of bed at least 20 times between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. for liquid bowel movements... (obviously, I took the day off from work).

The moral is, when you take the diet, going astray can be somewhat painful! In that sense, the UM challenge will be a help because I will better master what I have the most trouble with, which is making tempting dishes with what I can eat. (I am not an avid cook, but I have become a better one since starting the diet).

So, that's my story for now.

Take care.

I'm looking to talk to someone successful with the ultra simple diet.  I am on day five and not losing weight, water, or anything else that I can tell.  I lost 2.5 # the preparation week and didn't even follow that well.  Any advice?

Thanks a bunch!

For my part, I followed the guidelines pretty strictly, including the vegetable broth three times a day, drinking only filtered water (I have kept on doing that), organic food whenever possible (with meat, it's not obvious) , the UltraBath.

I also did as Dr Hyman suggested, and cut down on my intake of the media. In particular , I stopped listening to what we call around here 'garbage radio', where talk show hosts complain about everthing et blame everyone for everything... (I haven't gone back)... That alone lowered my stress level, which may have helped with my loss of 20 lbs...!

Keep at it!
