After struggling with many diets....having thryroid issues....recently finding out I am Celiac.......I am really hoping this is the "diet" my body will respond too.

I know I need to cut out dairy....I have already cut out gluten....although I still get heartburn and digestive troubles with the gluten free products......I have to watch my blood sugar.....mood swings...you name it.....but low carb would make me crave fruit...so I'd have some....think I blew it so I may as well have ice cream.....and well.....the 3 lbs I lost in a month would be right back on overnight.

Just reading the Ultra Simple book now...

You're in the right place.

Natascha,

You're new here, right?  Well, welcome!  I read your message on the Seasoned Women thread.  This is kind of a self-help diet with lots of help from the community.  We are all free with sharing our experiences and questions and answers - what we discover works or doesn't.

I think most of us on that thread started out with the USD.  Some have moved to the UMD, some have continued the USD for several more weeks.  I did USD for probably 10 days, then I had house guests for several days and kind of fell of a little.  Now I'm going for the UMD.  I had about 10-11 lb weight loss with the whole experience with USD, getting ready to get ready, prep week, Week 1, a few more days.  I'm encouraged.

I love the broth, have had challenges with the yoga (no time before breakfast) and the evening bath.  Sometimes I get it, more often not.  Anothe challenge has been having dinner too late, as my husband has very long work days during the summer.  We barely finish in time for the 10:00 news!  Of course that's way too late, and probably has decreased the wt. loss I could have had.  I was on the Enhansed USD, with the food supplements - I'd recommend that.  But another challenge has been remembering to take the supplements - especially those with dinner, for some reason.  I wish Dr. Hyman would include that in his daily check lists. (You definately need to download the big pdf file that comes along with starting both USD and UMD, for whichever diet you're doing.)

I wish you the best of luck as you begin this journey.  You're going to be amazed at what happens to your body and your health.Laughing

Hi, Natascha!

I agree with Janice's post.  And I suggest trying to read as much of the USD book, and the USD Companion Guide as you can, while taking notes on where you find things as you read(such as the page numbers of food lists, etc.), since my copy of the USD book is not indexed.  I have even made my own index of the recipes in the USD Guide, after not being able to find some of them quickly when I could not remember their proper titles.  I spent much of my prep week time reading the message boards, and therefore I failed to absorb everything I needed to know from the book and guide.  There was a huge "learning curve" here for me, in some respects, and the process is taking awhile for me to master to my satisfaction.  I have started to make and post lots of lists so that I don't have to look things up again after finding them the first time.

All of this pre-organization really pays off.  My life is becoming much more simple while on the USD, the more organization that I am able to do.  I had a slow weight loss at first, which would probably have been better if my Ultrabath water temperature had been higher, and if I had not felt so stressed at the beginning.

BTW, if you are interested in a gluten-free cookbook at some point, I just found a source for one of those yesterday.  Please let me know if this appeals to you.  I am now on Week 2 of USD after spending 3 weeks on "Week 1", so I plan to be around here for awhile longer.

This "multiple diet" thing can be pretty limiting, so I hope you will experience healing while on the program.  Stress reduction seems to be a very important part of the USD program.  I can't always do the exercise, but I try to focus on doing things that I really enjoy as much as possible.  I enjoy shopping, so I count that as "exercise"! Smile

Good luck with improving your health with these programs!
