Ok...several of us here have decided to either start-over or start the first time on Monday.  We are planning on posting here our daily menus, how we feel, thoughts, encouraging words and so forth.

Anyone please feel free to join in!!

Great idea!

I'll be on the "preparatory week" program for the first few days because my work schedule this weekend rules out a mega-shopping trip to prepare.  So I may not be with you on the menus till Wednesday or Thursday.  I'm so glad we're doing this, grateful for our starting-over momentum and support!

That's OK too, Joy.  I did some cooking today and got some Phase one food cooked up and ready to go.

Joy, I am doing the same thing, do the prep. work today and tomorrow.  I hope to be ready to start week two in a couple days.  So Wednesday sounds good to me for the actual detox phase to start.

Prep Week

Yep, me too, Sofiadawn. I shop tonight, so I hope to do actual menus starting on Thursday. Luckily since I work in a metropolitan area (downtown Washington DC), there's a huge "salad bar" restaurant on my block -- about one per block, actually, to feed all the office workers (!), but this one's special -- that has everything fresh and as plain as you might want it when you want that, plus some delicious cooked dishes if you want that. They roast a turkey every week and bake salmon (probably farmed) every week.

So this week since my cupboards are bare, I've gone there for lunch for prep week. I can get grilled chicken and beaucoup veggie salad ingredients there with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, I can get fruit and nuts for snacks, et cetera. Of course, nothing's organic and the poultry probably isn't antibiotic-free, but it's only for the first couple days till I shop. So I'm here on the path, ladies, even tho I'm still prepping.

I always keep a small can of (wild, of course) sockeye salmon in my desk drawer for emergencies. After tomorrow, I'll have Mary's Gone Crackers in my drawer and a jar of almond butter and some apples in the office fridge.

Now if I can just trick myself into drinking that water .... .

Water, Water Everywhere!

Hi Joy:

Sounds like you are doing very well for your prep phase.  As I've mentioned in my blogs, one big part of me being successful is having the right food on hand and prepared ahead of time.

I have a suggestion (or trick! hehehe) for drinking more water.  Have you tried drinking it from the bottle?  I know the plan suggests filtered, not spring water, but if you refill the bottles with filtered water, it still helps.  I am more apt to finish a bottle of water than a glass.  I don't know, maybe it's just me!

If you drink four small (15.someting ounces) or three large bottles in a day, you're doing very well.  Set a goal like finish the first one by 10 a.m., the second by 1 p.m., the third by 4 p.m. and the last with dinner or something like that.  As with any task, breaking it down into manageable chunks removes the feeling of it being overwhelming.

Since I don't drink anything but water and herbal teas, I usually don't have a problem drinking enough.  But, I still like to sort of keep track of how much I am getting, so I drink most of my water this way.  I recently had a "spa day" that my husband gave me for Christmas and when I had the facial done, the woman said, "you drink a lot of water, don't you?"  She said my skin was well hydrated.  It does make a difference!

Let me know if you try this and it helps you to drink more - water, that is!
