I can't find any 70+% chocolate that doesn't have some form of sugar in it.  I am assuming this is ok because it's such a small amount?

That has been my understanding.   Sugar is much better than high fructose corn syrup.   But too much chocolate, even at 70+ cocao, is too much!   I'm sure that is at least part of the reason for my weight loss to slow down.

Green and Black's organic 70% dark is the best.  :)

I actually order raw chocolate bars online. They are made with superfood powder and use raw agave nectar instead of sugar, which has a much lower glycemic index. Plus, raw chocolate is said to maintain more of the polyphenols than regular (cooked) chocolate, as heat destroys many of the beneficial properties. The one I like best is located at empoweredfoods.com.

Recommended by the UM book, I've tried cocao nibs, but don't bother trying the unless you're a fan of bitter, roasted flavors, simlar to coffee grinds. Otherwise, the best dark choc with 71% cocoa and 2 or 3 sugar grams (dependig on which of 2 flavors you choose)is available @ Trader Joe's- by Unique Origins.

I didn't like them at first, but since I bought some I continued to eat them.  They grow on you, an aquired taste!   Cool

I found a great candy bar at my local Trader Joes. It is mainly for diabetics. I got the dark chocolate and enjoy 2 squares after my dinner. It has 4 servings per bar. It is black packaging and it says "Low Effective Carb and Sugar Free". It is also Gluten free. It contains 8 grams of fat and 100 calories per serving.

Hi Evelynbella, double check with the nutritionist but I think that TJ sugar free candy bar has chocolate liquors in it--which gives me diarrhea.  It is either that or something else in it we are not supposed to have.  I remember grabbing it up when I saw the Gluten Free and now can't remember why it got rejected.  Mama Foodie

I just started phase one of the ultrametabolism diet last Tuesday - I am really enjoying the recipes!  I am a huuuge chocolate junkie, so when I first tried the Cocoa Nibs, it was a rude awakening.  The nibs were so bitter - however, when I popped them into the Banana/Cashew butter shake, they sort of tasted like chocolate chips - it was delish!  I found a recipe that I can deal while I am detoxing!

I also found a dark chocolate from Lindt that is 85% cocoa - it is truly divine and I only need a little itty bitty piece instead of a bag of M&Ms!  You can find Lindt at Whole Foods, Jewel and CSV pharmacy! (I am from Chicago)

The only thing I miss now is my glass of wine - I know I can have a glass in phase two, but 4 weeks is a long time... Smile  LynneM

Lindt has 99 % cacao chocolate too and it is also good.

It is bitter in the beginning but when you get used to it it tastes acutally sweet!

You don't chew on those high cacao % chocolates. Let a piece melt in your mouth. The best way to enjoy chocolate, I think.

My favorite chocolate is called Innocence. It is sweetened with agave and bananas. It has to frozen. Also it's so rich you only have to eat a little bit to be satisfiedSmile
