I am on day 4 of the US detox plan, and it's amazing how much better I already feel!!

I am not meaning to brag, I'm just so happy about having the energy to get through my day.

I struggle with a chronic illness that has robbed me of a lot - I did this 7 day plan because I want this to be the year I give a full-out effort to regain as much of my lost health as possible.

After such a short time: 

 I have ENERGY. (Again - you have to have seen how lethargic and sick I have felt for so long.)

The dark circles under my eyes are lightening up. They aren't gone; but they are less.

I eat SO many calories (over 2000 each day) and yet I've dropped a total of 8.5 pounds. I know that it's swelling and bloat...going away!!!

 

I guess I have a question: Can this possibly last?? Am i in for a huge fall? Anyone out there with any experience?

If you fall it will not be because the program failed. I lost 10lbs in three weeks. Since I had to take a break from the plan three weeks ago I have gained back 2lbs. However, I am still happy all the weight did not just come right back. The worse part of leaving the program is the increase in headaches, fatigue and body aches.

I am trying to get back on track, but my motivation level is not back where it needs to be. Today I am just trying to eliminate the sugar and any refined carbs that have crept back in my diet. I also noticed that I am sensitive to dairy and yeast which caused the inflamation in my face, dark circles, and foot pain to return.

This program does work and Dr Hyman explains why, we just need to trust in the plan and adjust to our individual restrictions, which is my biggest struggle. I just want to eat all of the food I love, however the last month has really shown me how good food choices make me feel, but more importantly how badly the wrong foods make me feel.

I have been sick and gaining weight for over 10 years now and I will not give up this time. Thanks to Dr Hyman and his staff and to all of you that are in the same boat for the communication and encouragment that I receive from this site.

 That's what I can't believe!! How amazing just eating certain foods can make you feel!

I hope i can eat like this 90% of the time always. I actually think the food tastes pretty good...Do you think that is a realistic goal?

Hi there - I really do think it's a realistic goal.  I'm only on day 10, but haven't 'cheated' once with the exception of the following story -- I hope you find it encouraging:

Yesterday my office mates had cake to celebrate someone's birthday.  I declined a piece and drank some green tea and chatted with people.  But, after it was done, I did dip my finger in some leftover icing on the cake plate... and do you know what?  It tasted horrible!  It tasted fake, far too sweet, and just plain gross!  I couldn't believe it (who doesn't like cake?!).  Anyway, I went back to my office and had some strawberries and was simply amazed that I preferred those MUCH more.  

I think we'll find that we just don't want the 'crap' that we used to call food anymore - sure, there will be times that something calls our name and we don't want to resist, but overall, I think we're re-training our bodies.  And I like it!

I was grocery shopping and was amazed by how much fake food is on every shelf. It made me really reflect on how much I ate and how little of it was REAL food.

I had trouble my first few days getting to sleep. I had more energy than I could believe! I've mellowed out some, but I sure do feel great!
