I have been doing alot of research regarding hormones lately. This week I started a new book called the Sexy Hormones, by Lorna R. Vanderhaegle, MS & Alvin Pettle, MD and they have a case study regarding hair loss. In this case it was her thyroid, but they also say hair loss can be caused by low or high iron levels, zinc deficiency, autoimmune disease, low DHEA, and too much stress.

They have suggestions on how to improve your hair's thickness, by taking a good multinutrient formula that contains minerals and vitamin D (new research recommend we take more that most multivitamins contain), zinc citrate, evening primrose, flaxseed oil, and iron if anemic.

I honestly thought I had a thyroid problem too, but my markers came back as 1.24, which actually puts me closer to a high level. It is mind boggling to compare all the symptoms relating to hormones, vitamin, and nutrient deficiencies, but I will keep searching and seeking help. Did you know that the liver health is very important in keeping hormone levels balanced? What about how the adrenal glands and thyroid work together? The anatomy lesson about the hormone process was very informative. I know my adrenal glands are stressed and my liver levels are too high, so I plan to address those issues with supplements to hopefully get some additional health improvements.

If your markers come back within the normal range. or honestly any woman at any age should read this book. There were so many issues with regards to estrogen dominence that affect not just women with breast cancer concerns, but infertility, endomitriosis, fibroids and other types of disease. They have really tried to break this issue down into concepts the average woman can understand and they give great suggestions on how to protect yourself with not just bioidentical hormones and supplements, but what types of foods to eat and not to eat. There actually is a food conflict with this diet that I'll post to the nutritionist, but most will compliment what your already doing on this plan.

One day at a time to a healthier life.

thank you for responding to my questions.  with more and more research i am finding that perhaps its not my thyroid, so much, and truly could be a combination of vitamin deficiencies, hormone imbalance and my eating habits and pr-menopause.  i guess i have to realize that even though i seem to have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism, i'm not a dr, and should be open to other possibilities.  but i'm still not ruling it out, especially since it seems like so many people get the wrong diagnosis.
