Not yet begun the UltraSimple Diet
Hi, I discovered UltraSimple Diet via eOmega Intitute where Hyman was listed as a facilitator in a weight loss conference (fat camp ha ha) and after reading his more holistic philosophies about weight management, I ran out and bought the book.
I'm planning to start on Monday. I've done some shopping but still need to buy a few other items like rice protein, mag citrate, probiotics, etc...
I'm so nervous about the mag citrate! I work in a transplant center and we give bottles of mag citrate to our kidney donor the day before their transplant as a laxative. YIKES!
I'll be blogging about my experience at my personal blog la Matriarch. Wish me luck!

Good luck

Good luck on your weightloss. There are a lot of vitamins and supplements to purchase in the beginning, but they are all beneficial even the mag citrate. Many people complain of constipation while doing the USD and eliminaiton is important to remove the toxins. However the amount that you will be taking is not even close to what a patient would take for a pre-surgery flush, so I would not worry too much.
The best thing about the plan is the Ultra Bath. I am not doing the USD anymore, but I continue to take my bath at least 3 days a week. Since I started a more intensive workout plan, I have had no muscle soreness, as long as I take a bath at the end of the day. I can also tell that it continues to detox my body at the same time. So at the end of the day make sure you take this time for yourself, it will be worth every drop of lavender.
Remember this is a lifestyle change not just a diet. Whole healthy food really do make you feel better. My meat and potatoes guy who has not thought about nutrition in his life has actually went back for seconds of vegetables. Shhh..don't tell!
One day at a time to a healthier life.
Good Luck

I am eager to begin as well, I was hoping to find loads of people wanting to begin and get more and more information and group support.
Where is everybody? the dates between responsed to post seem really long. I tried going to the "get started" section and the last post was 6 weeks ago?
Do you guys know how to get a group started?
Good Luck and thanks,

I think most people respond to the active discussions and enter their question from there. This site does move a little slow at times, but I have found it very helpful. I hope you take time to read and research Dr Hyman's blogs. They are very helpful and can answer many health questions.
Those of use that have been on the plan for a little longer do check in and try to help when we can, so don't give up on it. I also participate in another message board called Powersurge.com, for help with perimenopause symptoms, which are a big factor in weight gain too. One message board can't be all things to all people.

I've been on the diet for a 2-3 weeks now. You must be finished with your first week by now. How did it go?
This has been such a dramatic change for me that I am afraid to reintroduce foods. The health benefits are so pronounced for me- no headaches, the redness is gone from my face, acne is improved, no more fluid retention in my face and legs. I miss corn the most so I am going to shop for some healthy corn items like organic canned corn and organic corn chips and pop-corn and see what happens. I cheated one day when I slept too late to pack my food and swelled right back up from one meal in the cafeteria at work!
I'm going to buy the second book in hopes that it will make the transition easier. I could totally just keep eating what is on the USD quite happily.
About the magnesium- I've been taking magnesium for a couple years and if I could only take one supplement that would be it. I have less muscle pain and it decreased my migraine frequency by 75%. Now on the USD I am not having any. I'm taking a chelated magnesium tablet, 400 mg. Less expensive and more palatable than mag citrate, without the laxative effect. How could anyone be constipated with all that flax seed? LOL.
Good luck with the diet! I just don't think of it as a diet, this is the first time in years I have not been constantly thinking of food and hungry.

Doing the UltraSimple Diet
No worries on the Mag citrate, I have been taking mag citrate for about a year now. My doctor found that I was deficient in mag, just like Dr Hyman said most folks are. She gave me a shot, ouch, very painful and then a bottle of supplements. I started taking 3- 90mg tablets a day for 60 days then she changed me from mag aspartate to mag citrate powder form. I have not had any unwanted affects, only benefits.
I hope you have the same.

I am new to the program. Finished the prep week and started the real week yesterday. I have to say, the Ultra Bath is awesome. I look forward to the end of the day so I can soak, and then I sleep like a baby. Also, my favorite new find, almond milk. Who knew? Not me!
New day, new life, Ann

Completed UltraMetabolism
Not yet begun the UltraSimple Diet
As mhall24 stated, some of us that have completed the program check back periodically to see what is new. I finished UM about 3 weeks ago and am still following the change in my eating habits. I've had a few "treats" now and then, but not everyday as I did before UM. I find that I feel better and sleep better. The best thing I found for help with sleep is magnesuim. I read about it when I was researching perimenopausal symptoms. Black Currant Oil is a help for cramps. One big thing I noticed since I changed my eating habits is that I don't have as much hair falling out. Before when I got ready in the mornings, I would notice a lot of hair on the floor. I don't have that anymore.
Little changes make a difference. Now, when I eat something that is not healthy, I feel miserable. I don't want to feel that way anymore.
Take baby steps and you'll get there.
