This is my first time doing anything like this, but here goes. I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I am 63 and therefore maybe too old to be trying to boost my metabolism? What do you think?

Thanks

Never too old...

Hi Virginia,  I am 63 years old too and my metabolism was at a dead stop.  I don't know if the UltraSimple diet started it but I have lost 26 pounds.  10 pounds during the time of "I'm getting ready to start the UltraSimple Diet" and 16 pounds since we (my husband-14 lbs lost, and my son-40 pounds) went on the US Diet about 6 weeks ago--too late at night to figure it exactly.  I take extensive meds for diabetes, COPD, and Myastenia Gravis which all limit ability to lose weight.  UltraMetabolism will become our new lifestyle.  I cannot exercise yet but will hopefully get enrolled in some water exercise classes soon.  (MD says water exercise is the only type he recommends at this time because of my health problems).  So give it a go--what have you got to lose?  (HA HA)  We all have more energy and feel better.  The diet will make you tired the first few days, if you are still working, you might want to start it early on the weekend and let people know it will take a week or so to get the toxins out.  I did feel a little lightheaded the first few days, and I think I had a couple of headaches (very mild) the first week but that was probably from reading the small print in the US diet book and all those labels on every can, bottle, and bag I bought!!!  We all had a few days of being CRANKY but what diet doesn't make you cranky--same as stopping any addiction.  I know you will read some comments on the broth--personally, I thought it was delicious (must be the combination of vegtables people use), the 3rd shake with the almond butter (be sure and get the roasted creamy--otherwise it is toooo gritty) is probably the best tasting but I enjoyed the tofu one too--didn't taste the tofu!!  Anyway, hope this helped--let me know if you have any more questions.  Mama Foodie

Doing the UltraSimple Diet Doing the UltraSimple Diet

Got a question for you.  I did the US diet - successfully I think.  I'm back to the real world and have decided I liked how I felt so I'm going to do the UMD.  I have the book but I have only glanced at it.  Too busy, totally and need to know what, if anything, is the major difference.

Would you recommend I re-do the US and then go into UMD.  I hope you pick this up today (Sunday)  I hope also that you are continuing to have success with it.  Thanks in advance,

GV

Hi Moi Petite--wrote you a whole page and then wiped it out my mistake.  So here goes a much shorter version.  As I understand it the UM is basically eating healthy fresh foods (organic if you can afford them) and avoiding the poison food enhancement additives,  preservatives, corn syrup and hidden sugars in packaged foods.  We have totally changed our diet and our son has lost 72 pounds to date!!  He is a different person--energy, outlook and looks!  I have not lost more than my initial 32 pounds but there are so many medical complications for me and I am NOT giving up.  We do eat out occassionally but choose the  healthy alternative items on the menu--chicken grilled instead of fried, veggies or salad instead of Pommes de Terre Frites and of course, pass the bread basket--back to the waiter!!  The US diet identified my wheat allergy was more severe than I had thought.  Of course, I would knock down an old lady for a fresh sourdough bagette and some French butter (still working through a few of my old habits).  I have been good and refused almost all wheat products.  So you don't have to starve or deprive yourself of good food.  Of course, I do understand that you are in France and your temptations are soooo much more severe---you may have A glass of wine but not the "Sauce Bordelaise" (my personal favorite) with your chicken.  Most important of all--keep in touch!  Mama Foodie
