Day one! Can I do this???

I am officially on day one of the USD. This is anything BUT simple. I'm wondering if I can really really do this. I know we're supposed to start on a Sunday but Sundays are just NOT good days for me to start a diet. I don't work. I'm a SAHM so there's really no excuse as to why I can't put in this extra effort and focus. I'm having some trouble with it too....oh, I'm miserable right now. I just finished drinking my very first US Shake and although it wasn't exactly pleasant tasting and quite gritty, I forced it down...and once I got to about the bottom 1/4 cup of it I realized that all the flax/borage oil settled to the bottom. I was very close to losing the entire shake that I just consumed but somehow I've managed to keep my composure. Now I have a terrible, terrible case of heartburn/acid indigestion and I've taken 2 natural acid reducers (with ginger, fennel and chamomile) but it's not helping and the thought of purging this out of me is starting to sound like a good idea. Anyone else with this much trouble with the shakes? I probably need to post this on another board but I thought I'd ask while I'm here. I'm hoping it will digest very soon and I won't have to put up with this misery much longer. This is why I'm so hesitant to continue this diet. So far, not so good.

Did you make it through the first day?
I just started this, too (Day 5) and I just wanted to offer some encouragement.
I bought a Rice Protein powder that has vanilla flavoring (no sugar though) and also I put frozen mango in. It makes a really smooth shake, almost like a slurpee or something. I don't know if this makes it less-than-100% adherence, but I'm just sharing.
((I will add that, if you have any inflammation in your body, I bet this will make a difference for you. I feel so great after just a couple of days, it's a huge incentive to keep eating this way!))

Hang in there. The first few days are the hardest and it is very complicated and difficult to start. But give it some time.
I was ready to quit after the first couple of days. But we've now been on it two months. We've both lost about 20 lbs and feel great. Once you can get past the first week and into the "Phase 1" recipies in the Ultrametabolism Cookbook, it is a very sustainable diet.
