So I started the diet today and with the purchased food.  I feel hungry but not to the point where I want to cheat.  The food is okay.  I've tried Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig and I hated Nutrisystem.  Jenny Craigs food was pretty good but it just didn't seem that healthy.  This food is definitely healthy but I can already tell I am going to get really bored.  I am hopeful that I can do anything for one week.

I'd love to hear comments on how you stayed on track, enjoyed the food, and the reslts you had.

 To your health,

Joan

Beating boredom

I just started my week one redo, because I got derailed with a stomach problem. Anyway... I had lost 10lbs in three weeks. It was a bit of a challange to overcome the boredom for me to, since I never eat the same thing two days in a row.

For breakfast I made my shakes different each morning and used the brown rice cereal with different fruit and nut combinations.

For snacks I loved to eat celery or half of an apple with nut butter. I used Terra's exotic chips (cheat) with my broth to make it more palitable or you can add rice or vegs to broth.

For lunch and dinner instead of plain brown rice, I added in veggies while cooking, substituted the brown rice cereal as grits, and used brown rice pasta. You can also vary the cooking methods of veggis, by roasting them in the oven with a little olive oil even my pickey boyfriend will eat them. I am not a big fan of fish, but I loved to dip them into soy milk then bread with brown rice bread crumbs, that I seasoned. I sauteed in olive oil on the stove and sprinkled with lemon juice.

If you drink plenty of water you should stay satisfied, but if you still need a sweet treat get a bar of dark chocolate, I use the 85%. I like to melt a couple of squares with a splash or two of almond or soy milk and add chopped nuts then drop onto parchment paper or dip fruit in the melted chocolate, if it is to bitter add a drizzle of agave nectar to the melted chocolate. Eat one or two them put the extra in the refrigerator for later.

Some of these suggestions are pushing the guildlines a little, and you should use them sparingly. However, the real goal is to learn a better way of eating, so that when the weight is off we can maintain the weightloss and stay healthy. Many of us will have sensitivities to food that we have used for years and experimenting with other items like brown rice pasta and brown rice bread crumbs gives us options.

Enjoy your journey

Hi Joan,

I debated over a week to buy or make the food but finally decided to use the recipes that would be ok for the family and we would all eat the same.  (At least for dinner.)

I was in a fog until 2:00pm and am just a bit hungry but have some green beans with almonds for a snack since I didn't have a full 2 cups of steamed veggies for lunch.  The shakes are ok and will make one when Iater work to keep my appitite under control while cooking dinner.

I was glad to see your post, most of them here are not recent.

Good Luck!

Beth
