I read Ultrawellness when it came out and incorporated a few ideas from it but could not take the time to follow it completely. I read about the Ultrasimple Diet in a magazine and decided to try it after my husband and I got back from vacation. We started from the magazine article. Good thing we had not read the chapter about preparing yourself for a week first. On our week of vacation, we had lots of bread, ice cream, and cake. My husband gained 10 pounds, and I gained five in that week alone. Normally, it would take us about three weeks to get the vacation weight off.
We were totally dedicated to the plan the first week. My husband lot 16 pounds, and I lost 8. I bought and read the Ultrasimple Diet and Ultra-Metabolism books. We added back in a few items (beef, lettuce, and egg whites), allowed ourselves one serving of bread and one service of ice cream a week, and were slightly less dedicated to the exercising and saunas due to time constraints. We just finished week four. My husband has lost 24 pounds, and I have lost 12. For me, this meant getting past a plateau I had been on since April.
In addition, and perhaps more importantly, I had been diagnosed as a Type II diabetic with blood sugar of 126. After the first week of the diet, my blood sugar tested at 96, which is in the high normal range. I also have slightly elevated liver enzymes, which are attributed to a fatty liver. Those have come down slightly. My doctor is not yet a believer, but I am working to convert her.
Thank you.

congrats
