. . . all the new clothes and belts I have to buy! ![]()
Before I started out on this diet I weighed 410 lbs, wore a size 62 waist pants and my shirts were 5x. Im on my 12th week and now I am 350 lbs, my pants are a 52 in waist and im almost down to a 3x shirt! I think I probably would of done better had I been exercising, but I guess it was better to loose some of that wieght first so the exercise dosent do any damage to my body from the wieght (like the knees). My goal is to get down to about 210 and I cant wait till im not afraid to take my shirt off at the beach. My parents have joined on this diet with me (they post on here as the Foodies) and its been great to have that support. They have done very well themselves and all together we are alot more happy than before.

Don't wait to exercise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't wait to exercise. This is the biggest mistake I see on these boards. One of the worst things you can do is lose weight and not exercise because you lose muscle and get weaker and more out of shape, even though you are thinner. Get in the water, do pool aerobics or swim, and lift weights. They can all be done safely at any weight and you will be far better for it. Whether you were to lose any more weight or not, all of your blood work and cardio vascular system will see great improvements from the exercise. You might even feel better and sleep better. Exercise is truly the best medicine, at any weight. But it is a habit like anything else and you need to integrate it into your daily life just like anything else. Don't make the dietary changes a substitute for not exercising.
Let me clarify what I meant

Let me clarify what I meant when I said I would have done better had I been excercising . . . I meant that if I had been going to a gym and lifting weights and stuff. I do ALOT of walking at my job (1 million square foot facility) and I practice Kung Fu (which is also a great cardiovascular exercise). So yeah, I guess I have been exercising, just not in the formal sense.

That is phenomenal! Good job and keep up the good work!! I think this program is a great "life style change" and not some fad diet.
Did you ever consider swimming or water aerobics? It's much better for your joints, etc. I know you are self-conscious about taking your shirt off, but I'm sure you could leave it on...Just a thought.

all the gyms that ive been in that have a pool also have a no t-shirt policy. Im going to start a gym membership on thurs at this private gym by my house. They dont have a pool, but at $20 a month, (and reasonbly affordable personal trainers) I dont think I will mind.
Just a quick update, Im now

You are a real inspiration. What is your favorite go to snack that keeps you satisfied between meals? Along the way how have you delt with the celebrations and holidays that was different? I think we all would appreciate a few "tricks" that have worked for you. Any words of encouragement would be welcomed, I believe, by all of us.
My go to snacks are usally

My go to snacks are usally green olives or Laura bars (trader joes). Sometimes I snack on nuts (like wasabi/tamari almonds) and also fruit. When holidays and special occasions come around, I tend to be judical about what I eat. Sometimes you have to learn how to adapt and compromise. Lets say you are at a family members house for a special occasion and they are serving fried chicken, I would pull off fried skin and just eat the meat (preferably breast) and then load up on veggies and try to avoid the white starches all together. But then again, there is nothing wrong with having a treat meal every once in awhile. One night of fried chicken and mashed potatoes in a month or two is not going to cause you to gain back the weight you have lost, it is the habbit of eating bad things on a consistant basis that leads to weight gain. Just be knowleadgable about what kind of foods are most beneficial for you and dont torture yourself if you are experiencing a craving that makes you feel like you are going to lose it. you will burn out that way. hope this helps.
Thanks

You are amazing! The weight loss is great, but the attitude is far greater. It sounds like this has become a totally integrated lifestyle- not just a diet you are suffering through until you get where you want, and then you will go back to eating whatever.
It's awesome to see this kind of understanding. There is definitely nothing wrong with treats once in a while, especially once your body is healthy and can take a day of crap and then literally flush it.
I can hardly wait until I'm to that point. Right now I'm just looking forward to trying to reintroduce eggs in three months!
How long have you been on the program?
