Gluten intolerance was my problem

Dr. Hyman's approach to wellness has truly changed my health and my weight. I suffered from chronic diarrehea for five years. Several doctors ran numerous tests, including colonoscopy and endoscopy, and could not find a cause. All tried to remedy the symptoms with various drugs - none worked well or for very long. My gastroenterologist finally put me on a steroid treatment normally used to treat Crohn's Disease (which I didn't have). This treatment actually finally stopped the diarrehea, but brought back the onset of my period after 3 years in menopause! I hated that I was taking drugs that changed my physiology so dramatically and was afraid of the long term results.
Last September I ran into a friend who told me that she lost 18 pounds with Dr. Hyman's The Detox Box. Needing to lose 80 pounds myself, I gave it a try. Lo and behold, besides losing 11 pounds in my first week, the diarrehea went away completely and i have been "normal" ever since! I discovered through the detox process that I a have gluten intolerance. Now that I eat a plant based diet and have eliminated gluten, I have lost a total of 38 pounds. The Detox Box is almost identical to the UltraSimple Diet. I will continue with the UltraWellness program for the rest of my life and I know I will ultimately reach my weight loss goal as well.
Thank you Dr. Hyman - finally something that makes sense!

wow!

All these success stories are amazing!
After a week on the UltraSimple diet, I am SO much better with mucus, and I lost the 5 lbs. I had put on recently. I've decided to check on soy, too, since I still have some allergy symptoms, so I eliminated soy and kept going.
Of course, the pollen outside, and the cats and dust inside might have something to do with it. I need to detox the whole house!
Thanks for an inspiring story!

I have IBS and gluten is a major trigger for me. I had been avoiding wheat (for 7-8 years) in an attempt to keep it under control but when I started the Ultrametabolism diet in January I realized the oatmeal & ezekiel bread was still giving me the gluten and the problems.
I'm not completely over it...I may never be since a lot of it is stress/anxiety with me..but I'm 85% better than I was. I still never leave home without Imodium AD in my purse ~ LOL!

I somehow got my body to stop reacting to stress with IBS. First, I discovered lactose intolerance. Got lots better. Then, discovered hyperthyroid. Surgery, Got lots better with the IBS again.
I still was irregular with diarrhea one day and not the next. I finally started using fiber regularly (very little psyllium compared to what the bottle said) and used it every day, and it seemed to calm my intestines down. I have great hopes for the konjac fiber!
Now IBS is ONE problem I don't have! But I can sure remember it, though. That Imodium was never far away. And I ate so many bananas!
I think gluten might be part of the problem, though. I'm hoping to find out. I learned years ago about dairy, of course, and wheat and corn (when I was previously on an elimination diet). I'm not eager to give up more foods but I AM eager to start feeling much better!
Nice to "meet" you!
