Picked up the UltraSimple Diet at an airport, read it on the plane, lost 5 pounds during the preparation week and 10 more pounds in the five weeks since then. I am ecstatic.
The biggest food change is that I have *no* cravings. Previously, I craved sugar after every meal. I also binged, especially on carbs, an activity that is clearly not helpful in weight control. I knew I was eating more than I was technically hungry for, but the urge to eat was compelling. Now I'm in control because the cravings are *gone.*
But the even bigger change has been with my mood! Usually I struggle with depression and low energy. Now I feel vibrant and alive.
As a person who has battled excess weight since childhood. I have long felt that the "experts" are wrong about how to lose weight - otherwise, why would it be so hard for some to manage their weight and so effortless for others? Thank you, Dr. Hyman, for providing something that works. Finally, it's easy for me too!

Awesome! I'm at 7 weeks

I'm still waiting for all the cravings to go away, but it does get easier by the week, particularly as I've begun to add foods back.
7 weeks, 5 inches, 10 pounds! I have 8 more pounds to go to reach my pre-pregnancy weight, last seen in 1988!
Congratulations! It's a long hard road, and you are well on your way! Most people who diet gain the weight back. But if we learn and practice a new way of eating, and really keep out those simple carbs and sugar, we will be in a position to keep the weight off!
I need more exercise, though. But look how much I've lost with minimal exercise! Hooray!
