I highly recommend "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne (I have the DVD, book and CDs). What you learn in The Secret can be used in every aspect of your life including getting healthy, losing weight and changing your life to achieve your dreams. I'm also a huge fan of Carolyn Myss, Depak Chopra, Jack Canfield and Wayne Dyer, Zig Zigler...among others. You can't go wrong reading anything published by these talented people. I love to read all types of books, but I always have at least one "self-help" book going as well.

DeeA2Z,
Has it helped you? I've read it .... several times. Sometimes it seems like things are working and then......nothing. And I read it again! It's a bit tough to change over 4 decades of negative, cynical thinking!!!
I've also got a few Carolyn Myss books, Wayne Dyer books, and I'm sure we (hubby and I) have others. They're all packed away right now since we recently moved. Right now I'm reading a fantasy series. They help me relax!

Hi Anne,
I hear what you're saying! I started with the movie, then got the book, and finally I got the CD series. The CD series is great because you can pop them in when you're driving around or doing housework, whatever. I found that by using the law of attraction with small things first, it made it easier for me to apply the same thinking to larger goals. And I also find that having an attitude of gratitude is just as important, if not more important than anything else. I guess that's where the positive thinking starts with me...being greatful for what I already have. That puts me in the proper frame of mind.
Oh, what fantasy series are you reading? My husband reads those like crazy and has gotten me hooked on several of them myself! I love Jim Butcher's "Dresden Files" series, and I loved Mercedes Lackey's "Elemental" series. I really get into the magical and time travel series (Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series). I'm also heavily into mystery novels. I've been on a James Patterson kick of late. I also like Tamar Myers because there's so much humor in her books. I'm one of those people who always have 3 or 4 books going at the same time. It's definitely the relaxation factor!
We just moved into this house in January and I still have 2 rooms to get unpacked, so I sympathize with what you're going through. I have such a sense of triumph whenever I can empty a box!
I have fibromyalgia and some days I'm just tired or achey and I just don't feel like doing anything
. I'm hoping that the USD will have positive affects on some of my symptoms.
Check with you later!

Look at the foundation teaching of all this people you have mentioned. It is not as firm as you might think. Please be careful.
I haven't read the book...

but I saw the movie and wasn't really that impressed. Is the book better? I didn't get anything out of the movie except for a bunch of people that have books out there and it seemed almost like they were selling something.

hrguru, I think both the book and the CDs are better than the movie. Some people think that the concept is overly simple and unrealistic. Keep in mind that postivie thoughts always improve your life, but just thinking "people love to give me money" will not bring money to your door. What you need to do is to combine the positive thoughts with whatever work will bring you the results you want. You do need to do some work that will help you reach your goal, and the law of attraction will bring various opportunities to your attention. Sometimes the opportunities are very subtle, but you have to be brave and step up and grab on, or else those opportunities will be few and far between. There is much more to the law of attraction than just thinking positive thoughts; you need to have an attitude of gratitude for what you already have and you need to be open-minded about making the changes you may have to make in order to reach your goals. For instance, just because I think to myself "I am at my optimum weight and I feel healthy" will not make 95 pounds disappear; I had to make changes in my lifestyle that will help me reach my goal. Along the way, the positive thoughts just help keep me motivated. I don't know if what I've just said has been helpful, but I hope so! Keep on keepin' on!
