My age is 71. when I was 30, I had thyroidectomy and was on synthetic thyroid supplement for 10 yrs. At age 40 I discovered that I could take an organic supplement and it has been effective for me for 30 yrs. I have been told that the synthetic supplement such as Synthroid is missing part of the whole T3/T4. Has anyone out there had a similar experience? Thanks.

I was on Synthroid for about 12 years and I always felt a little off with it, although much better than with no thyroid replacement. I found a doctor that was willing to use Armour thyroid and I've been on that ever since. I don't think my body was converting the T4 to T3 very well. if I had to use a synthetic like synthroid again, I'd want to see if I could alwo add a T3 drug to use with it.
