Not yet begun the UltraSimple Diet
I hope to start the preparation week for the Ultra Simple Diet this week and have 4 children to feed and do a lot of entertaining of family and friends, so it will be difficult for me to stick to the no sugar and no white flour diet, especially since my family isn't doing the same. I'm in good health overall and haven't been to a doctor since my last baby was born 2 years ago and that was my ob/gyn well visits. I do stay tired a lot, though, and I know that is partly because I go to bed after 11 every night, sometimes after midnight. I tend to have low blood pressure and if I eat too many sweets, my arms will ache especially in the elbow joints. I've noticed that when I eat a lot of veges and stay away from the bad carbs that I don't have the achy problem. Anyway, if you all have any suggestions for me, those who have kids and do a lot of entertaining, what do you do to keep from eating the lasagnes, casseroles, desserts and etc. that I fix for my own family and my friends. My family doesn't want Ultra shakes, Ultra broth, grilled chicken, grilled or broiled fish, all veges, so I'd be fixing something different for me every time I fix a meal. My husband is 5'8" and 145 lbs and hasn't gained anything in the 14 years we've been married and he is a healthy guy and is making better choices, but he is far more picky than I am. I think most people are picky compared to me. I eat and enjoy just about everything out there. I've tried the Ultra Shake just today, and I like that just fine, too. I'm 5'10" and 173 pounds and want to get down to 150. I was 140 when I got married and people still comment on how I've kept my figure, but I'm at the top of my acceptable wt range (139-174) and actually got back down to 165 last year with Weight Watchers, but gained it back after I stopped attending meetings. My goal is to feel more energetic, lose the wt which is caused by inflammation and avoid potential problems that come with age and poor diet. Anyway, hello to all of you and I hope you're having a great, healthy day!

I'm the same age, but in a different boat. I'm much shorter and have been struggling with a thyroid condition for about 8 years now (the extent of the problem was only discovered last year). I have 50 pounds to lose. I started this program last week and have lost 4 pounds so far (I'm being pretty diligent and am exercising).
I went to a bridal shower last night and managed to stick to the salad that was offered, despite the delicious-looking lasagna and desserts on the buffet. I just made a decision to eat the salad ahead of time and I was fine. I kept myself busy until it was time to go home.
I find that if I get myself pumped the first couple of weeks of a diet, it makes things much easier. After I'm two months in, the lasagnas and treats are harder to resist. I hope I'll do as well in April. :)
Question for you: I read the Ultrametabolism book and didn't see anything about Ultra Broth and shakes -- what are they and how do they fit into the diet?
Good luck to you.

Hi,
I am new in the program too. But its idea is not new for me.
About the broth: as long as it is prepared from so called organic ingredients including for example the chicken, it fits /at least I think so/. But no ready stuff should be used. Of course it is better to be a soup with fibre ingredients.
About the shakes - the same as the juices - not recommended.
