working night shift

I currently work night shift as a registered nurse and am trying to figure out the best way to follow the ultra simple plan with my schedule. On my days off I generally stay up really late and sleep in until about 11am or 12pm. On the days that I work I'm usually sleeping all day, getting up around 3:45pm and leaving for work at 6:20pm.
I'm not sure how much this is going to effect the plan and/or my results. And what is the best way to address this? Is it OK to be doing this eating schedule while I'm up all night at work? That is what I've done so far. Just followed somewhat of the same schedule during the night, as I can't imagine going all night without eating. That sure doesn't make any sense. Or should I be trying to stay on somewhat of the same schedule on days off and days that I work? I'm just not sure. Any suggestions?? I'd appreciate it. Thank you. ![]()

I would do just what you are doing :)

Doing the UltraSimple Diet
Sassy girl, I would continue to do it as you are on your schedule. It would make no sense if you did not eat when you are awake on your nightshift - how terrible!!
Just follow the guideline and work it around your schedule - the key is to make it work for you :)
Keep us posted on your progress :)

serenity,
thanks for your reply. i sorta started last thursday because i was growing impatient and because it worked better with my stretch off from work. i figured it would be way easier to do the bulk of the plan while i was able to be home preparing meals and such. i've only had to work one night since starting and it actually went fairly well. i've since purchased an insulated thermos to take the broth to work in. i think that should help. so far i've lost between 5 and 6 pounds. haven't taken any measurements which i'll do at the end of the 7 days. i have plans to continue on past the 7 days but we'll see. how is it going for you so far?
Keep up your wonderful work!!

Sassy girl, you just keep doing what your doing - wow 5/6lbs is great!! That is so encouraging :) As for me I just started on Sunday and so far the only symptoms, has been some fatigue, slight headaches, some soreness and the biggy is some "back-up". I will be taking a suggestion to opt for an Herbal laxative tea instead to see if that will help me.
I look forward to hearing all your final success - are you planning on doing another round?

serenity,
i don't feel i've had any symptoms after starting this program but i don't think i had as much to eliminate as i'm sure others did. not sure what your diet was like prior to beginning this program but maybe that's why the side effects are more noticeable for you. i'm not a coffee drinker, don't eat fast food, don't drink alcohol on a regular basis, don't drink soda, and etc. my only vice is chocolate which has been a big challenge for me. anyways, it should get better for you. keep up with it. i think the long term benefits certainly outweigh the short term side effects.
on that note, it's a gorgeous day here and i'm heading out to take my dog on a long walk to the natural food store. we are almost out of brown rice, which she and i both eat as part of our daily diet.

Sassy Girl:
Since your work life may not change, you need to create your "daily ritual" around your routine hours and stick with it. First, determine your sleep/wake cycle and then have your first meal within 2 hours of waking, spacing your 2 other meals approximately 4 hours apart and include a light snack (see our ideas and keep it simple such as fresh fruit and an ounce of raw nuts or seeds) if needed to avoid getting over hungry. Getting organized is especially important so I hope you take the time to make it a priority to get your meals and snacks organized as it will save you time, energy and lots of frustration in the end!
Sincerely
Christina
