I am single, and my parents and family are a big group of people who love to get together and eat on Thanksgiving. So, I am expecting very little support for my detox/elimination diet attempts. In addition to being gluten insensitive, I am also allergic to dairy, soy, eggs and yeast. I am thinking about using the time off to go to a detox retreat instead. In the UltraMetabolism book, Dr. Hyman mentions a resort that offers a detox, yoga program. I tried researching that resort, and it does not look like they offer detox retreats. Are there any other resorts that offer a type of detox retreat that includes detoxifying meals? Thanks,Carla

Hi, I am not sure which one he mentions. I don't know of a specific program, however, both Kripalu Center, in Lenox, MA and Rowe conference center in Rowe, MA offer Thanksgiving retreats as an alternative to traditional celebrations. I know Kripalu offers a choice of simple, plain, organic food for those doing cleanses or eating macrobiotic. I am not sure, but I think Rowe does as well. Good luck. I am not sure where you live. I would think many health oriented spas would offer the food if not a program so you can follow the plan yourself.
kudos to you

sounds like your retreat is a great idea. good for you putting your health first and thinking of an alternate if being around the family and food is too much. i congratulate you on your determination!
