A Pasta Pesto recipe in the Ultraprevention cookbook calls for dry bean pasta. I went to a local Whole Foods and another natural foods market. I found Ezekial 4:9 Sprouted Grain pasta and whole soybean pasta. Do either of these qualify as dry bean pasta? If not what products do

I have not seen a dry bean pasta either, but used brown rice pasta and it really tasted well.  Also, my husband made a mango salsa in place of the meat sauce and it was delicious--best "phoney" spagetti around.  Mama Foodie

Sorry, I tried to post a recipe before but the site didn't like me.  Use any recipe you find that sounds good.  Ours is mango (or mango&papaya), chopped red onions, basil (I don't care for cilantro) and red bell peppers.  As you can see ours is very non-spicy but you can add whatever you like, my son and husband add peppers or chili sauce to theirs, sometimes they add a little corn, celery, or what ever they feel like--depends on the entre--it is good with salmon, best in chicken tacos (started using the mango salsa in place of cheese) very forgiving--will ask my husband tomorrow for the amounts and any special seasonings--he has a tendency to sneak in a little chinese 5 spice into a lot of his recipes.  Mama Foodie

Mama Foodie,

Your thoughts and insights are wonderful!

I miss cheese...

Hi srg, Me too--there are soooo many recipes we cannot make without cheese--we think we can add a little grated parmesan later--but right now we can't trust ourselves.  Maybe the nutritionist could suggest some cheese substitutes.  My son eats the almond cheese but honestly to me it tastes like a cold gum eraser.   Have you tried the sprouted corn tortillas--they are pretty good and a lot easier to chew than  the brown rice parchment paper tortillas--I always feel like I should be enscribing great thoughts on them!  I would love to have a nice vegie casserole with something between the layers to give it substance--when you take away cheese and breadcrumbs you are left with just a pile of zucchini!  More later, Mama Foodie

Hi Nelar 9, just an update on the salsa--Husband said it started out as a recipe from Sam Choy's cookbook and has been revised so many times to fit our tastes.  His recipe calls for 1 Hawaiian red chile pepper and we substituted Red bell pepper.  His orginal receipe called for cilantro and basil and we just leave the cilantro out, the original recipe also calls for sugar which we also now leave out.    My husband was very adamant that we give credit to Sam Choy-one of our favorite chef's and beg his forgiveness for altering perfection.  Mama Foodie

There is a brand of pasta made from pure lentil beans called Papadini from Adrienne's Foods.  It's gluten free.  I really like the taste.  I used to be able to buy it at a local health food store, but they closed.  I buy it directly from Adrienne's.  You must buy it by the case(9 packages) and there is a 2 case minimum.  Buying 18 packages without first tasting it may be a gamble.  Their website is:

 www.adriennes.com

I would call them to find a store in your area.  You may have to call several times as the order guy is never in his office.
