Hello Everyone! I love my new life of eating well and taking care of my body. I have been on the ultrametabolism diet now for 6 weeks. Feel so much better and I am so thankful. Plan to eat this way the rest of my life. I have a question. I have dark circles under my eyes and was wondering if there is any help available for that and what might be the cause!!!

Hi Texas Girl,

I am now heading toward my 6th week of UltraMetabolism, too and I share your excitement about how good I feel overall. Congrats for making the committment and getting this far....the information about our bodies and their response to certain foods is priceless and will keep offering us more an more information.......that is if we keep paying attention!  It is so easy to get distracted by life as we all know too well. Nothing is ever lost, though, if something is learned in the process!

My toxicity level from this site's health tracker went from 115, Severely Toxic, down to 20, mild toxicity, this past week, I am truly astonished how that number keeps coming down. I have no cravings and I am not hungry.....now I don't have any good reasons to even justify eating some of the stuff I used to love like Lime Tostitoes, popcorn, sour cream, pasta, guacamole, chocolate....I can't say there haven't been any "emotionial cravings" which I have succomb to 3 times in six weeks......but learned quickly that the few minutes of enjoyment or relief, resulted in some not so desirable side effects......so I'll think twice before jumping in again, mostly likely!

This is just a guess, but the dark circles under your eyes could be from a sluggish tyroid, further food or environmental sensitivities that you have not yet discovered, or that your body just needs more time to heal. I think Dr. Hyman asked about dark circles in his recent thyroid blog/survey. Someone, please correct me if I am wrong. Further suggestions would be appreciated, too.

I have dark circles that I have covered since I began wearing make-up and that was more years ago than I care to count, but they do seem to be slightly lighter than usual since beginning, and I haven't even gotten into all the recommended supplements for my issue areas identified from the assessments in the book like pre-metobolic syndrome, stress and thryoid!

I have been hesitant to begin adding in new foods until I have some time with a few more supplements in the picture because I don't want to mess with a good thing. But who knows maybe my dark circles will continue to fade as my body has more time to really trust that it will be getting mostly whole foods for the long term!

Let me know, TexasGirl if you figure something else out and please keep us posted on how things are going as you head into weeks 7 and on. Your excitement can truly keep another going when they think they just can't take another day......

Hope your weekend is as great as you sound....Here's to better health and overall great quality of everyday functioning.

Dark Circles- Thyroid

Hi,

I had very dark circles under my eyes and started noticing them about the time my thyroid went out of wack. I'm 30 and had never had them before nor did they go away even when I caught up on sleep. I thought law school was just catching up with me, but my endocrinologist mentioned them as a symptom during my initial visit to her. I still have dark circles, but they're not as dark or frequently noticeable and I'm hoping that my new medication and adherence to Dr. Hyman's program will make them go away entirely.

Maybe you should get your thyroid checked if you haven't done so already.

All the best,

mmm
