2:30 am wakeup call?

Ever since I started the UltraSimple diet last Sunday, I have been waking up at 2:30am every morning.  This is totally out of character for me as I am a sound sleeper when I hit the bed and don't wake up until the alarm goes off and I usually hit the snooze button several times.  I have found that I have more energy at night and tend to not go to bed until after 10pm but no matter what time I go to bed, I wake up at 2:30am.  I do fall back to sleep within a half hour.  Has anyone else had the same situation?  Has anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?

I too was waking up around 3am and sleeping fitfully until 6am. This is not normal for me.  One night, on Thursday, I needed a full night's sleep so I had a glass of wine an hour before bedtime.  Worked like a charm.  Friday and Saturday (back on the program faithfully), back to the 3am wakeup and fitful sleeping afterwards. I dunno why, though. 

 

It was a choice between wine and Excedrin PM.  The liver (and my emotions) opted for the chardonnay.

According to the Chinese Body Clock...1-3 am is the active period for your liver.  It would stand to reason that during detox your liver would be generating more energy than normal, which would explain you being awakened during that time.

Thank you for sharing the possible reasons for this different sleep pattern and that I'm not the only one.  As the nutritionist suggested, with the difference in my diet, supplements, and that I'm detoxing, changes are to be expected.  Thank you Pollyanne, great information.  That too makes sense.

I do plan on doing another week and possibly the full 3 months.  I will post my next week sleep patterns later in the week.

When I first started, I had trouble falling asleep and when I finally did, it was a restless sleep. I would wake up several times during the night, which was not normal for me. The bath before bedtime actually made me quite restless and the heat made my heart race a bit (not too high, but definitely not my normal 60 beats a minute!), so I am not sure if that had something to do with it or not.

By the third or fourth day, I was falling asleep with no problems. I no longer would wake up. I am now on day 3 of week 3.

and i have done 3 weeks already..

I might try taking an extra magnesium..any other thoughts?
