Hi Everyone,
The Elliptical Machine at my Gym has a "Weight Loss" setting and a "Cardio" setting. Can someone tell me whether or not I will get the benefit of Weight Loss setting even when I am doing the "Cardio" setting?
I am a novice at exercise and apologize if this is a silly question but I really would like to have someone clarify this for me.
Thank you in advance.
Smiles,

I am not an expert either, but I believe the cardio work out is more the weight loss. It raises you heart rate to a higher level. So, yes you would be getting the weight loss benefit from the cardio routine.
I am going to implement the intervals from Ultra Metabolism into my elliptical workouts. It is the chapter about the mitrochondria.... I think this will really help build my stamina and make my workout time more efficient. h weight is coming off slowly, and I think this could get things going.

I'm a physical therapist and answer this type of question for friends and family often. You will burn calories and fat by speeding up your metabolism with any exercise where you move the large muscles of your body and increase your heart rate. It doesn't really matter what the setting you use but monitor your heart rate and make sure you're getting into your "exertion" range. If you're at a gym any of the trainers can help you with that and if you have any cardiovascular or respiratory issues consult with your physician before starting a program on your own. The short answer is yes and I hope that added some clarity. It's an excellent question.
