Hello Kathy and friends:
I do realize I cannot be diagnosed over the internet, but I need to take some drastic steps asap and would appreciate some guidance. Here's the brief summary of my situation:

- Own the Ultrametabolism book and the Ultrasimple diet book
- Started general detox on Dec 13th: no gluten, sugar, dairy, eggs. Stayed on this through the holidays with little deviation (perhaps 2-3 glasses of red wine over a month's time)
- Started the Ultrasimple Diet on jan 8th. Taking vitamins, probiotic, herbal laxative, baths 5 of 7 nights/week
- moderate exercise: 2-3 1-hour jogs/week since jan 8th
- Deviation: every day, I have one cup of coffee with Lactaid milk
- Im on a low dose birth control pill (LoEstrin)

Absolutely no weight loss. Exactly the same number n the digital scale.

- I'm 50, have had a personally difficult year in 2007 (deaths in family, two moves, house renovation gone wild, husband's company merged, etc) - gained 10 lbs, have 20 to lose total
- Had my thyroid tested about a year ago - 'normal' according to traditional standards
-Have had similar issues on Weight Watchers, zone chefs, etc,.

I've looked up some local docs who practice functional medicine. Many have a store and seem to sell a lot of supplements - I want a diagnosis of what might be the problem. Can you suggest my best next step?
