Whey protein after USD?

After the reintoduction phase of USD, is it ok to switch from the brown rice protein to whey protein? I do not care for the texture of the brown rice powder, and would enjoy the shakes more using the whey.
The whey in question has 20g of protein (5 more than my brown rice), it has all the same amino acids (at similar levels), it's gluten free, 80 calories, 0 carbs, 0 sugars, less than .1 g of lactose, less than .1 g of soy letchin, no fillers or bulking agents.
I would like to switch because it's virtually tasteless and mixes completely w/water, so if I mix it in the water prior to putting the water in my shake, I won't have that gritty feeling in my shakes.
Thanks!

If you want to continue shakes you should be able to introduce the whey, but use the general rules for reintroduction as any food. Since it is sugar free and gluten free, unless it includes dairy I can not think of any reason why not, except if it is not organic which would be a concern. I enjoy the tofu/soy and nut butter shakes better that either the rice or the soy protein powders that I have tried, but I have never tried the whey.

It is organic, forgot to put that in there.
I think I may give it a try. I don't do soy. Certain types of soy have a negative affect on your thyroid. So rather then having to figure out all the time is this kind ok or not, I just avoid it if I can.
So I'll see if the whey makes them better, if not, I'm used to it anyway. I wish nut butter wasn't so expensive... I got it at Whole Foods while I was out of town for $5 and it only last 2 weeks, making shakes for 2 people. The store near me (no WF :-() it's $11, for the same size!

I am trying to piece together the whole soy thing myself, but for estrogen hormone issues. I have a tendency to get the estrogen fluff as I have started calling it. Many post ago, I mentioned the amazing amount of inches I lost just but adding progesterone and an estrogen balancing formula. I lost around 10 inches on my upper torso in just two week and only lost a few pounds during that time. Since then I can tell when my hormone balance is off because (excuse me but) my boobs grow. It actually is more of a upper chest though and to me it just makes me look heavy.
I am adding soy milk back, because I have been eliminating dairy and it is cost effective. For now that is all and then the soft tofu. I will use it for a couple of weeks and see if it adds to my estrogen load. Not all estrogen is bad but I am trying to be careful because my Mom had estrogen dominant breast cancer. She was 75, so the doctors are not too concerned. I saw the scar, I'm concerned. If you wanted to add some soy you could go very gradual and pay close attention to your reaction. I read in another book that the fermented types effect your hormones less, like miso and tempah, but Dr Hyman has a different perspective. I never did get an answer on that question. Yohoo, Customer Support.
Another source of protein is Hemp milk. I was going to try it this week but all they had was a chocolate with sugar. Several people say they like the taste and texture. You also might be able to order nut butter's on line cheaper. They can be rather expensive, but I think the extra fat helps me feel more satisfied. A little goes a long way, so maybe do a combo. You are free to be creative within the general guidelines. I am trying to remember if there is any reason except allergies to avoid peanut butter. I can't think of any. Naturenut is good with these question, "What do you think?". I'll look back over the books. I know peanut butter it is not restricted on the UMS. I eat it but only occasionally due to digestion issues. Remember to always reintroduce foods slowly so you will know how you react.

The Dr. Weston Price Foundation website has some very educational information regarding soy. Basically, if it is not fermented you don't want to eat it. For information on this click: http://www.westonaprice.org/soy/index.html
Ruth's Hemp Foods Certified Organic Hemp Protein in powder form is a good clean source of hemp protein which has an excellent nutty flavor. It can be used in shakes or combined with food creatively in any number of ways. Try a can first. This is what we (my wife and I) did. We buy it in bulk now. It is an excellent addition or alternative to rice protein when one is doing an elimination diet.

I use whey protein almost everyday. I like whey with out sugars. and a good whey product will have lactose removed. It is a good source of protein.

If you use UNDENATURED whey protein, you get the "perk" of glutathione enhancement....check out Immunocal, mentioned by Dr. Hyman. It is listed in the PDR, but no prescription is necessary.

I would recommend not using the Whey as this is a dairy product and is best to stay away from.

I've never heard of hemp milk, I'll have to look into it further.
As far as soy, I'm not willing to take the chance. It took years for them to finally get my thyroid under control... now 30 pounds heavier, I don't want to take that chance no matter what. I hope you find a balance that works for you. I know plenty of people that take soy and have no issues, but I have bad luck lol.
I'll have to experiment... some people on here I see do cocoa powder, but I don't really like chocolate. Maybe I'll try some raspberries too for something different. I might also try a different brown rice powder, people mentioned one they like better then others, just have to look through the treads for it.
I think allergies is the only reason for not eating peanut butter. I think peanuts may be somewhat of an allergy for me, not sure... I can eat creamy peanut butter on a sandwich, but I can't eat the nuts. They get stuck in my throat and won't go down, it's weird, because I can eat walnuts, almonds, etc with no problem. Not sure if that would be an allergy or what, but you'd think if it was, peanut butter would do the same, but as long as it's creamy, I can eat it.

You may want to try Almond Milk and Almond butter. These are great alternatives.

Try using one of the different versions (recipes) for the Ultrashake. The almond milk, butter and banana is my favorite.

Hello Christina
Dr. Hyman describes the casienates in dairy as being the problem. Whey is a different protien component of dairy. Why would whey be a problem?

Most whey protein isolate is virtually lactose free, at least the undenatured whey protein isolate that I use...so while technically a dairy product, has the problematic components of dairy removed....

It is best to stay away from Whey because it is considered a dairy product.
