We are now starting our 7th week on Ultra Metabolism, starting with Ultra Simple and doing great.  At this point we are re-introducing some foods and we have a question about Stevia Extract.  It is described as a natural sweetner.  Is it permissable to add to tea and on whole grain cereal?

Well, Dr. Hyman put it on the list of foods to avoid so you should probably do so. In Ultra Simple he said that stevia makes you have sweet cravings, also I've heard reports that it can cause cancer. Agave nectar is a sweet alternative though.

Due to the fact that Stevia can cause sweet cravings it is best to avoid this product.

 

you can use whole natural sweeteners such as honey and agave nectar.
