As a mother of a nursing toddler, i am very concerned about optimizing my health to protect myself & and my child from all flu strains this year. After much research on this site & Dr.Mercola's site, I have decided against vaccinating myself or my son. In prevention, I asked my doctor to run the vitamin D lab test & they called & said everything way fine...but it is not optimal at all! My level is 27 ng/mL and I understand optimal to be above 50. So, I understand my levels, but I am very confused as to how much I could take! I don't want to become toxic and pass that on thru my milk to my son...but I want to start taking a D3 supp ASAP to get my levels up. Could you offer a suggestion of what to start at? I would like to start & then have my levels re-tested again after 2-3 months. Thank you so much!

Hi, I also visit Dr.

Hi,
I also visit Dr. Mercola's site often. I recall him recommending taking 6,000 IU of Vitamin D daily. He then recommends having your levels checked again several months later. This seems a bit high for me so I take 3,000 IU. I have yet to have my levels checked, but just wanted to relay the info. Also, I use Dr. Mercola's Sunshine Vitamin D spray. I believe that Dr. Hyman recommends levels between 50-70 (units?). Hope this helps.

ps. My family and I already contracted swine flu. It hits you pretty bad the first three days, but then starts to ease up. I'm kind of glad to have it over and done with. Now, hopefully we all have some built in immune to it. Good luck.
