Does anyone know of a way to boost your metabolism when you do not have a thyroid? Mine was destroyed during a surgery and since then I've been on synthroid and hydrocortisone for the rest of my life. As a result of all this, I battle the bulge everyday. I exercise for at least 2 hours a day and only eat 1,100 calories a day, yet I cannot lose weight! It is so frustrating!

I think probably the most important thing is too work with your doctor to make sure you're getting enough thyroid replacement and no more hydrocortisone than you need. It can be a tricky balance and lots of things can change it.
Synthroid is the most commonly used drug for thyroid replacement and it works beautifully for a lot of people. Some people do better also taking some Cytomel or using a different preparation. That's also a good thing to talk to your doctor about.
The other things Dr. Hyman talks about like eating breakfast, exercise (especially interval training and strength training), etc. also help.
I think for most people it's small steps and gradual improvement. That can be slow and frustrating at times but it can lead to great results. Good luck wiht your journey!
