Getting off of statins

Not yet begun the UltraSimple Diet
Seven weeks into this program and my cholesteral has dropped dramatically. I am a 55 year old male currently on Crestor (my 3rd statin). My blood tests a couple of weeks ago showed my total cholesteral was down to 111 and my ldl was at 46 - much, much lower than it had been. My doctor, however, thinks the lower results come from Crestor, which he put me on just shortly before I started the Ultrasimple plan, and not the diet.
My question is at what point is cholesteral low enough to start transitioning off of medication and how do I do it?
