Mercury Detox – A 3-step Plan to Recover Your HealthPosted on September 16th, 2009 |
Categories: Mercury Toxicity | Mental Health | Fatigue | Detox | Dementia | Chronic Fatigue Syndrome | Brain
After my last blog, I'm sure many of you are depressed and discouraged about mercury and its toxic effects. The bad news is today I am going to review more of mercury’s toxic effects and expand on what I learned at the medical conference on mercury I mentioned in my last blog ...
But the good news is I will provide you with a clear, 3-step plan to help your body detoxify from mercury and recover your health. I have used this same plan successfully and safely with hundreds and hundreds of patients over the last 10 years -- and it’s the same process I used myself to overcome mercury toxicity!
But first, let's review the rest of the data presented at "The Impact of Mercury on Human Health and the Environment" conference that I began discussing last week.
Mercury -- How to Get this Lethal Poison Out of Your BodyPosted on September 9th, 2009 |
Categories: Mercury Toxicity | Mental Health | Fatigue | Detox | Dementia | Chronic Fatigue Syndrome | Brain
If you are heavy, it could be making you sick and tired and age prematurely. And I don't mean heavy with fat ...
I mean heavy with heavy metals -- like mercury!
Unfortunately, toxic mercury problems are common. Along with polar bears, beluga whales, ducks, otters, panthers, and all river fish as well as most large ocean fish, we humans are poisoning ourselves with mercury at ever increasing rates.
There's no doubt about it, mercury is the most alarming, disease-causing source of environmental toxicity that I see daily in my practice. Many of patients have toxic levels of mercury -- and they're not alone. I personally suffered from mercury toxicity and chronic fatigue syndrome --which I cured myself from, in part by getting rid of the mercury in my body. So I know about this first hand.
I became toxic because I polluted myself by growing up on tuna fish sandwiches, eating sushi, living in Beijing, which heats all its homes with coal -- the major source of environmental mercury load -- and having a mouthful of amalgam -- a.k.a. mercury -- fillings.
All of these exposures, combined with genes that prevent me from effectively detoxifying metals in my body, led to a slow and significant poisoning of my cells and mitochondria. And the effects were obvious ...
I felt weak, tired, and couldn't think, I had muscle pain and twitches, insomnia, digestive problems, food allergies, depression, and anxiety. And it was only by discovering high levels of mercury in my hair and urine -- and slowly detoxifying myself -- that I was able to get better.
I have seen this over and over in my patients, too. From chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, to depression, anxiety, obesity, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, heart failure, and heart disease, the message is clear ...
We are being poisoned!
This is such an important public health and personal issue for so many people that I'm going to use this blog and next week’s blog to fully explain the extent of mercury issues and give you a comprehensive plan for reducing your exposure and healing from mercury toxicity. I'll show you the science behind mercury toxicity, share some stories about my patients who have suffered, and talk about the way we need to deal with this major health problem.
First, I'd like to share with you what I learned at one of the most important international conferences on mercury yet to be held. It was called "The Impact of Mercury on Human Health and the Environment" and was presented at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans.
There, a unique international group of policymakers, environmental scientists, toxicologists, biochemists, journalists, academic physicians, practicing pediatricians, neurologists, and dentists gathered.
We were there to make sense of the environmental impact, toxicology, basic science, public policy and health implications of one the least studied and perhaps greatest potential threats to our long-term health -- mercury. And I want to share some of what I learned at that conference with you.

Is There Toxic Waste in Your Body?Posted on July 21st, 2009 |

Your body may be a toxic waste dump.
Worried?
You should be ...
We are exposed to 6 million pounds of mercury and the 2.5 billion pounds other toxic chemicals each year.
80,000 toxic chemicals have been released into our environment since the dawn of the industrial revolution, and very few have been tested for their long-term impact on human health. And let me tell you, the results aren’t pretty for those that have been tested ...
How can we not be affected by this massive amount of poison?
According to the nonprofit organization Environmental Working Group , the average newborn baby has 287 known toxins in his or her umbilical cord blood.
If a newborn is exposed to that many toxins, imagine how many you have been exposed to in your life ...
Do you think this may be why so many of us are sick and fat today?
The simple truth is that we are living in a sea of toxins and it is destroying our bodies and brains.
The two most important things you need to know to cure disease, create health, and lose weight are:
Unfortunately, you probably aren’t going to learn much about them from your doctor. Most physicians today are still hopelessly ignorant in these areas. They were simply never taught about nutrition and detoxification in medical school.
However, there are many things you can do to reduce your toxic exposures and enhance your detoxification. Today I want to share some information your doctor probably won’t focus on in your next visit, even though it is at the very root of your health. I am going to outline a simple 10-step plan you can use to enhance your detoxification.
Enhancing detoxification is the 5th key of the 7 keys to UltraWellness. If you want to lose weight and get healthy, you need to clean up the toxic waste in your body. Today you will learn how.

Now for today’s blog ...
I have some bad news and some good news for you about your brain.
The bad news is that we live in a poisoned world that damages our brains.
The good news is that we know how to avoid and help our bodies get rid of toxins, which gives our brain a chance to heal and repair itself.
We are exposed to toxins we were never designed to deal with—and nearly all of them cause brain injury.
A recent study of umbilical cord blood found 287 toxic chemicals, 217 of which are toxic to the brain and nervous system. And that is what infants are exposed to even before they take their first breath. (1) These toxins include mercury, lead, PCBs, BPA, phthalates, plasticizers, flame retardants and more.
There are 6 million pounds of mercury emissions from coal burning every year and 2.5 billion pounds of toxic chemicals released into the environment every year. Where does it all go?
At least some of it gets into your body—and your brain!
In fact, a recent government survey found an average of 148 chemicals in our bodies. And those were only the ones they tested.
Did you know that 25 percent of New Yorkers have toxic blood levels of mercury from eating too much sushi?
Or that 15 percent of American women of child-bearing age have toxic levels of mercury in their blood? (2) That means that 15 percent of the 4 million children born in the United States each year, or 600,000 children, are exposed to toxic levels of mercury in the womb. (3)
And then there are the 3,500 different chemicals that are added to our food, and the more than 3,000 chemicals found in our homes.
In today’s blog I will discuss some of the effects these toxic chemicals have on our brains. I’ll tell you a story about what happens when you limit your toxic exposure and enhance your body’s detoxification system. And I’ll reveal the master detoxifying molecule made in your body.

Can Healthy Omega 3 Fatty Acids Also Give You Mercury Poisoning?Posted on February 12th, 2008 |
Categories: Omega-3 Fats | Nutrition | Mercury Toxicity | Food Choices | Detox
Ninety-nine percent of Americans are deficient in this nutrient – but if they eat it, it could poison them!
What am I talking about?
Omega-3 fatty acids, which are often found in fish oil.
Research suggests that the omega-3s in certain fish may cure or treat most chronic illnesses, including depression, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, dementia, autism, ADHD, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases. In fact, about 60 percent of your brain is – or should be – made of fish oil.
But getting those omega-3s can be dangerous.
For example, a recent laboratory study of tuna sushi from a selection of New York City restaurants found levels of mercury so high that they exceeded the safe limits set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and would allow the Food and Drug Administration to take legal action to remove the fish from the market.
Now, we’ve got more media coverage and more headlines, but not much more understanding. Should we eat fish or shouldn’t we?
Today, I’m going clear up the confusion.
